The Human Team

The most beautiful team in the world, in one book.
A collectible art book from EVERYONE, the team every person is already on, made by the team itself. A first look, and an open door.
The Human Team, the object

It may look like we're losing. But if we play together, we can still win. What we believe is possible, suddenly is. Count me in.

01 · One team

You are already on this team.

You belong to many teams. Your family, your neighborhood, your people, your profession, the ones you chose and the ones you were born into. But there is one team that includes them all: the human team.

This book is not asking you to adopt an idea. It is asking you to recognize a team you are already on. There is no winning that does not involve everyone. That is not idealism, it is the physics of interconnection: we lose it only by giving up on what is possible, and we win it only together.

But knowing that and feeling it are two different things, and the gap between them is enormous. No argument closes it. A face does what a sentence cannot. Here the case is made not in words but in people, one at a time, an image holding what a thousand words reach for.

The Human Team is one of the ways EVERYONE makes that team visible, a companion to the book A Case for Belief, the film, and the platform where the team finds itself. everyone.team

02 · Not everyone. What makes you feel everyone.

This is the team recognizing itself.

This is not a directory of faces. It is a gathering of the images that carry it, the ones where you feel, in a single glance, that we are one team.

Each was chosen because it does exactly that: a face, a moment, a pair of hands that makes the whole suddenly visible. Not a crowd of strangers. Us, distilled. It is less a book you read than a team you recognize, and once seen, it cannot be unseen.

And there is a reason it lands now. As screens fill with faces made from nothing, a book of real, chosen, named people, each one someone who is truly there, becomes rare, and worth keeping. The point was never the machine. It was always the person on the other side of it.

03 · The object

An object worth keeping. Down to the spine.

Built to sit out, not shelve away. It belongs in the category people collect rather than merely read, the great art books that hold their place on a shelf for a lifetime. The spine gets the same care as the cover. The mark rides the spine. Once seen, hard to unsee.

04 · The lineage

It sits in a proven tradition.

The most beloved photo books ever made. Four north stars, and the one thing each proves is possible.

The Family of Man

Edward Steichen · MoMA · 1955

One human family, told entirely in photographs. Still in print seventy years on. One species, one book, and it endures.

Inside Out

JR · a global participatory project · 2011

Anyone, anywhere sends a portrait; it becomes public art. The people are the author.

Humans of New York

Brandon Stanton · 2010

One face, a few honest words, and how far that reaches. One face and a few true words is enough.

05 · How it's made

Everyone sends it in. A few shape it into a book.

Made where the team gathers.

everyone.team is where the team gathers, and it is where the book is made. A photo, a few of your own words, sometimes a short video, sent in through the platform. Anyone can take part, and taking part is what makes it.

Images and words, brought together.

Not every picture arrives with words, and not every picture needs them. Images and words are gathered from the team and matched, a face here, a line there, sometimes from the same person, sometimes brought together. Every voice stays in its own words, lightly shaped, never overwritten.

It is not everything. That is the point.

Creative direction holds the whole, deciding what belongs beside what, and what to leave out, so a book made by a great many people still reads as one. Most of what is sent will never appear, and the book is made as much of that restraint as of the faces it keeps. Authored by everyone, held to a point of view.

The value comes back to the makers.

Consent and a clear agreement come with each picture as it is sent, tied to the person and kept. Credit and a share of the value the work creates return to the people who made it, which is what draws the next ones in.

The same team, in motion

The book is one surface. The team is also moving.

The same people who make the book send in more than photographs. Short moving portraits, a few seconds each, gathered on the same platform, in the same spirit.

Brought together, they become the video campaigns that carry EVERYONE into the world, and those campaigns feed the film. One team, one gathering, many surfaces: a book you can hold, campaigns you can feel, and a film they build toward, where one face becomes all faces and all faces become one.

The way in

How the first people come in: the Founding Circle.

01 · Contribute

Send it in

Add your picture, a few of your own words, or a few seconds of video, through the platform. Consent and credit are recorded as it comes in. Taking part is how the book, and the team, get made.

02 · Co-create

Build it

Shape the first volume with your eye and your input, credited as a founding co-creator. Some hands hold the book. These are some of them.

03 · Creative direction

Hold the whole

A book like this is held by a point of view: the taste that decides what belongs, what to set beside what, and what to leave out. That direction is being shaped now.

A note on ownership, said plainly. EVERYONE is steward-owned. A company holds it, in trust, so the work stays for everyone. It does not belong to everyone on a cap table; it is held for everyone in purpose.
